Premature Ovarian Failure

Share

Premature ovarian failure, also known as primary ovarian insufficiency (POI), happens when a woman's ovaries stop functioning normally before turning 40 years old. This will also cause premature menopause, as well as infertility in several cases. The diagnosis of premature ovarian failure (POF) is as follows:
(1) Younger than 40 years old
(2) No menstruation or decreased menstruation for 4 months or longer
(3) After 2 FSH examinations (at least 1 month apart), the value exceeds 30 mIU/mL

Premature ovarian failure patients show signs of kidney deficiency, and are categorized differently below:
(1) Kidney Qi Insufficiency
(2) Liver and Kidney Yin Deficiency
(3) Liver constraint and Spleen Deficiency
(4) Qi and Blood Vacuity
(5) Phlegm and Blood Stagnation

Those with primary ovarian failure should avoid consuming stimulating foods regardless of the food being hot or cold. It is also important to avoid foods that are fried, spicy, or baked, as they can easily accumulate and cause distress to the body.

It is recommended to consume nourishing foods high in collagen, like sea cucumber, chicken feet, kelp, seaweed, yam, and bird's nest.

It is also best to maintain moderate aerobic exercise daily, best paired with pelvic-focused movements.
