Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that several acupuncture points in the human body are connected by pathways or meridians. These pathways can create an energy flow (Qi, pronounced “chee”) through the body that is responsible for the person’s general health. The points of acupuncture are believed to be able to stimulate the central nervous system. By releasing chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain, these biochemical changes may stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

For acupuncture to be used in treating infertility, is through points in the lower abdomen and lower back to stimulate the ovaries and uterus, or sometimes to even improve circulation in the overall reproductive system.

Q&A
1. What does acupuncture feel like? Does it hurt?
Acupuncture is done using hair-thin-like needles. Most people report feeling minimal pain as the needle is inserted. The point of insertion usually produces a sensation of pressure or a dull ache. Needles may sometimes be heated or may be applied to a mild electric current during treatment. Some people report feeling more energized or more relaxed after acupuncture.

2. Are there any lifestyle limitations for acupuncture?
There is no need to avoid exercise. However, please try to keep the wound dry and avoid swimming, taking a bath, or going to hot springs.
