Acupoint application is a kind of moxibustion, also known as medicinal moxibustion. It is one of the commonly used treatment methods in Traditional Chinese medicine that uses medicinal materials to create a stimulating effect on the skin. It is then applied externally on local acupoints to stimulate the acupoints to produce positive effects. “SanFu Teh” and “SanJiu Tie” refer to the use of the traditional concept of “Heavenly Moxibustion” and “Sunqi Moxibustion” to stimulate the acupoints by using warm medicinal materials and acupoint application at specific times to alleviate symptoms of uprightness, strengthen resistance, and to achieve preventative health care.

Q&A
1. Why divide the acupoint application during summer and winter?
A: It releases small amounts of heat when you apply, and sometimes people with sensitive skin may experience itchiness. Generally, it is recommended to apply it for 1-2 hours. If it causes more discomfort or it’s the first time applying, then it is possible to shorten the treatment time to avoid skin irritation.

2. Is there anything I’d have to pay attention to when applying acupuncture points?
A: Acupoint application is applied with pungent and warm medicinal materials. It is normal to have a local burning sensation, redness, or itching. To alleviate discomfort, it is recommended to pat the application area lightly after treatment.

3. Is it better to use traditional Chinese medicine in addition to acupoint application?
A: A continuous application of “SangFu Teh” combined with “SangJiu Teh” for 3-5 years can produce longer-lasting results. You can also work with trusted Chinese medicine practitioners to adjust accordingly to your situation. Take respiratory system disease as an example: it has an additive effect on the curative effects of asthma and allergic rhinitis.
According to research in 2017, subjects who applied acupoint combined with oral medicine improved significantly, and after their resistance was enhanced, they were less likely to catch a cold.

4. What is the difference between acupoint application and navel fumigation?
A: “SangFu Teh” and “SangJiu Teh” are applied at specific times of the year. To enhance the skin’s ability to absorb the medicine, the medicinal materials selected are more pungent and irritating to enhance the effect. The “navel fumigation” can be applied at ordinary times. The relatively mild and warm medicinal materials are selected and placed on the navel where the skin is the thinnest, and the medicinal gas is introduced into the body to achieve a conditioning effect.
