In-Vitro Fertilization

Share

The world’s first baby to be conceived via in-vitro fertilization (IVF) was born in England, in 1978. For over 40 years, there have been huge advancements in IVF technology, increasing the average success rate of IVF. It has become one of the most common and effective types of assisted reproductive technology to help individuals become pregnant. In-vitro fertilization is the process where the fertilization of an egg is combined with sperm outside the body. This process involves monitoring and stimulating an individual’s ovulatory process, removing an ovum or ova from their ovaries, and letting sperm fertilize them in a culture medium inside a laboratory. After the fertilized egg or the zygote undergoes embryo culture for about 3-5 days, it is then implanted in the individual’s uterus.

Note: A valid marriage certificate is necessary.
