Dr. Chi Jun Liao
Xiaohui, a patient from Hong Kong, had been putting off having children for ten years due to work commitments. Given her age, she decided to go straight into IVF treatment. During her first attempt at a hospital in Hong Kong, six eggs were retrieved, but only two were successfully fertilized. Unfortunately, by the third day of cultivation, only one embryo remained, and it failed to implant after transfer.
PGS: Enhancing the Chances of Pregnancy
Having heard that Taiwan ranks second in the world for reproductive medicine (only behind the United States), Xiaohui and her husband decided to fly to NUWA Fertility Center in Taipei for another round of IVF. This time, she opted for preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) due to her previous experience with poor embryo development. Throughout the embryo cultivation process, Xiaohui was very anxious and worried about whether the embryos could develop on the fifth day.
NUWA Lab Successfully Cultivates 11 Blastocysts
Under the meticulous care of the NUWA medical team and the dedicated embryologists in the laboratory, the results were beyond her expectations. They retrieved 16 eggs in total, resulting in 11 fertilized eggs, all of which developed into blastocysts. Among them, 8 were rated BB or above, and the PGS biopsy results were all successful!
Natural Cycle Transfer: Successful Pregnancy in One Try!
Unlike previous Hong Kong patients, Xiaohui chose a natural cycle embryo transfer with fewer medications but more frequent visits. She found the affordable cost, convenience, and excellent medical experience in Taiwan appealing, so she decided to stay in Taiwan for her blood tests and ultrasounds. After returning to Hong Kong, she successfully tested positive for pregnancy. Let's all wish Xiaohui a smooth delivery!
