Overcoming Premature Ovarian Failure and Advanced Maternal Age: A Success Story from the UKLiving in the UK, this patient faced the double challenge of being older and experiencing premature ovarian failure. Her journey to conceive was incredibly difficult. Through a referral, she returned to Taiwan, known for its advanced reproductive technology, and sought help from the renowned infertility specialist, Dr. Cheng-Hsuan Wu.
AMH 0.86 and Premature Ovarian Failure: 3 Years of Trying to Conceive Without Success
This 39-year-old patient had married and moved to the UK seven years ago. For the past three years, she had been trying to conceive but without success. After being referred, she traveled to Taichung’s NUWA Fertility Center to consult with me. A blood test revealed premature ovarian failure, with an AMH level of only 0.86. I recommended starting the IVF treatment process.
Since the patient had less than a month before she needed to return to the UK, we adopted a double stimulation protocol within one menstrual cycle to maximize egg retrieval, racing against time to not waste a single egg.
Successful Pregnancy and Birth After Two Egg Retrievals: A Beautiful UK-Taiwan Mixed Baby Born
We retrieved 5 eggs and 4 eggs in the two retrievals, respectively, for a total of 9 eggs. Thanks to the skilled embryologists at NUWA, we managed to freeze four day-3 embryos and two blastocysts. Two months later, the patient returned to Taiwan from the UK, and we implanted two blastocysts (from the second retrieval cycle). The results were positive, and she successfully carried to term and gave birth. Congratulations to her!
The patient and her British husband recently returned to Taiwan and brought their adorable baby to see me. It was a touching moment, and everyone remarked how much the baby resembled the father! I’m grateful they shared their joy and good luck with us. And by the way, her British husband is just as handsome as I am. If you agree, let's give a round of applause!
